Despite the show being cancelled on the Wednesday  and extended for an extra day on the Friday. The National Ploughing Championships held in Screggan Tullamore Co Offaly had an attendance  of just over  240,700.

IAM had all brands out on show; Strautmann, Hardi, Rabe Machinery, Bomford Turner and Gregoire Besson with the latest products and innovations from each on display. There were industry experts on hand from each of the brands at different points over the few days.

The flagship of the Strautmann Diet Feeder range, the self-propelled Verti-Mix SF 2002 (22m3) took centre stage on the stand commemorating the first new 2002 to be sold in Ireland. The Verti-Mix SF diet feeder costs less to mix rations and feed animals daily while also providing a superior level of mix consistency.

The main saving benefit comes from dispensing with the need for a loader or loader/tractor, tractor, and trailed feeder wagon by replacing it with a self-propelled unit. Furthermore a 25 – 30% saving in feeding time is commonly achieved from the reduced travelling back and forth to the clamp as the 2002 can collect exactly what is required in one go.  The fast mixing action of the Vario2 auger, coupled with the fact that all the silage is milled as it is collected, also speeds up the mixing process.

On the Strautmann Forage Wagon front the new Giga Vitesse 3602 made its Irish debut ahead of the 2019 silage season.

Hardi was represented by the new Navigator Delta Force with 24m booms, the Delta Force was launched earlier this year at a Hardi Crop Care day on Thursday the 12th April in Kilkenny. This machine marks the start of a new boom series which fulfils the future farming demands for flexibility in boom widths, high speed performance, narrow transport width and superior robustness.

Bomford Turner where also out in force with a large range of hedge cutter, flail mowers and remote-controlled mowers.

It was great to see so many of our customers there and we are all looking forward to the 2019 which will take place in Ballintrane, Fenagh, Co Carlow.
