Michael Crowley - dairy farmer from Ardkitt, Ballineen, Co. Cork - was the first name out of the hat to answer all three questions correctly. The right answers were as follows:
Q1 - 64hp (min. Power requirement)
Q2 - The knives are swept rearward to reduce the power requirement.
Q3 - The forged drive shaft, oversized bearings and solid casing all contribute
to the strength and reliability of the auger drive unit (all 3 options
needed to be ticked).
Over 1200 correct entries were received. One enterprising entry received
from the Kelly family from Co. Galway included a drawing of the 1050 -
complete with a poem - which we reproduce below. We'll be sending them
a small consolation prize to show our appreciation for their efforts.
